More than 80 bags of compost will help with the charity's gardening projects

A cannabis farm worth about £200,000 was shut down in Middlesbrough.

And police have now handed over spare compost from the illegal set-up to Teesside Hospice.

Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team raided the property on Crescent Road in the Gresham area after receiving intelligence and information from partner agencies.

Around 250 plants were recovered there, thought to be worth around £200,000 in total.

In addition, more than 80 bags of compost were recovered from the site and these will now be donated to Teesside Hospice for use in its gardening projects.

PCSO Frank Davies said: “We’re pleased to be able to work with Teesside Hospice and the compost will now be used for a legitimate and worthwhile purpose.”
