Dominica to legalize production of cannabis byproducts by end of 2025
Loop News Thursday 20 Mar 2025 Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit made the announcement to reporters earlier this week saying plans for the new legislation as well as the mechanism for certification and licensing to provide such permits will be in place by the end of this year. He said the Dominica government has in the past expressed interest in being part of “this growing industry” and plans to engage stakeholders who are interested in exploring the production of medicinal cannabis. Skerrit says a national committee has been put in place to guide the process. However, he revealed there are several hurdles to cross including bank transactions and financing. “As you know banks are not prepared to engage in this because it is still illegal in many countries around the world,” Skerrit stated. “And so this is something that we have to navigate around and to see whether the banking system can come to an appreciation that the by-products are crucial for health and wellness.” https://www.loopnews.com/content/dominica-to-legalize-production-of-cannabis-byproducts-by-end-of-2025/
