US: Cannabis Legalization Bill Advances In Pennsylvania House

Tuesday 06 May 2025

HARRISBURG — A bill to legalize adult-use cannabis in Pennsylvania has passed a key hurdle. The Cannabis Health & Safety Act, or House Bill 1200, was approved Monday by the House Health Committee in a 14-12 party-line vote.

The measure now moves to the full House for consideration. Sponsored by Democratic Representatives Rick Krajewski and Dan Frankel, the bill would create regulated cannabis stores, expunge past marijuana convictions, and reinvest tax revenue into impacted communities.

Supporters call it a step toward equity and public health, while critics warn of increased addiction and societal harm. Although the Democrat-led House is likely to pass the bill, it faces strong opposition in the Republican-controlled Senate.
