Malaysia: Two men jailed 30 years for trafficking 139kg cannabis in Bangsar

wo parcel delivery men were sentenced to 30 years in jail and 12 strokes of the rotan each by the High Court today after they were found guilty of trafficking 139kg of cannabis in 2022.

Judge Datuk Mohd Arief Emran Arifin sentenced S. Mohan, 38, and Ahmad Shamil Abdul Rashid, 28, after ruling that the prosecution had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

"After considering all the facts, evidence from the witnesses and submissions from both parties, I find that the prosecution has proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt against both accused.

"I find both accused guilty. The jail sentences are to run from their arrest on May 31, 2022," he said.

The duo, who stood in the dock, appeared calm and composed after the decision was delivered.

Their friends, who had been seated in the public gallery since this morning, returned to the courtroom after the lunch break to hear the verdict.
