US: Courts Dismiss Challenge to Baldwinsville Cannabis Enforcement Action Lucas Day Finger Lakes Daily News Tuesday 20 Oct 2026 The New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) and Cannabis Control Board announced the decisions, issued by the Albany County Supreme Court on September 22nd and 25th. In the first case, a licensed cannabis processor challenged the state’s requirement that individual cannabis products be tracked through the Metrc seed-to-sale tracking system. The processor argued that the state could not impose per-unit tracking without adopting a new regulation. The court rejected that argument, finding the requirement was lawful and supported by state legislation. The court also determined that the tracking system serves a legitimate public health and safety purpose by helping protect the regulated cannabis supply chain. n a separate case involving a Baldwinsville business, the court dismissed a lawsuit challenging a June 2024 enforcement action. During an inspection of Stonedhenge Smoke-N-Grow, state investigators seized approximately $7,000 worth of products and issued a violation for allegedly selling illegal cannabis. The business challenged the enforcement action in court before completing the state’s administrative hearing process. The judge ruled the lawsuit was premature because the business had not exhausted its available administrative remedies. The court also dismissed the company’s constitutional claims. OCM Executive Director John Kagia said the rulings reinforce the state’s ability to oversee the growing cannabis industry while ensuring regulations are applied fairly and consistently. https://www.fingerlakesdailynews.com/local/courts-dismiss-challenge-to-baldwinsville-cannabis-enforcement-action/
