Australia: Founding member Wayne Taylor is the Legalise Cannabis candidate for Northern Victoria Callum Ludwig Star Mail Friday 30 Oct 2026 “I have been an active member of our community here in Castlemaine, working with a local community group tasked with tackling our lack of an all-year-round swimming option,” Mr Taylor said. “SWIMMA “Swim Mount Alexander” is a group of like-minded people lobbying council and local politicians for a year-round swimming solution for the residents of Castlemaine. “This interest has opened my eyes to the disrepair of many regional public pools within Victoria.” Mr Taylor is a founding member of the Legalise Cannabis Party in Victoria. Mr Taylor said he has spent the past seven years in this party with one main goal legalising cannabis and helping our economy. “I first ran as a candidate in 2022 in the Upper House under the rebranded HEMP Party to help promote LCV and gain membership for the party registration, during this time, I have become passionate about many current issues, which has led me to contest the Upper House, where I truly believe I could win a seat and help fix Victoria,” he said. “I listen to people in our region, and I hear many are upset and struggling with the cost of living. Regional Victoria is feeling the pain at the bowser, and our roads are in disrepair, costing lives, we have too many people living rough and families living in fear of homelessness. “The key issues we need to address here in the Northern region are our roads and community housing to take pressure off the rental market, not to forget our regional health services and the ramping up of ambulances at our hospitals, we also need to listen to and better represent our region’s farmers, who are also very upset with recent changes made by the Labor Party.” Mr Taylor wants to see farmers who own multiple titles of land see some relief from Victorian Emergency Services Levy, while also continuing to bring CFA and SES equipment and vehicles up to date. Mr Taylor said the lack of explanation, public consultation and transparency are the most important issues to him in Victoria more broadly. “Our government is failing to listen to its people and moves on with total disregard for our approval,” he said. “If you want honesty and transparency, Legalise Cannabis Victoria is the voice for you, I will bring lived experience to parliament even if at times it is a little uncouth, I will work hard to bring integrity back to politics and hold those accountable for their downfalls and mismanagement. “I intend to shake things up and stir the pot.” Mr Taylor can be found on Facebook under ‘Wayne Taylor – LCV Candidate for Northern Victoria’. https://upperyarra.mailcommunity.com.au/news/2026-10-30/founding-member-wayne-taylor-is-the-legalise-cannabis-candidate-for-northern-victoria/
