BLOOD, DRUG TESTS WITH IMPACT

An Ontario firm that is readying a device to quickly pinpoint blood
alcohol and drug levels with a small amount of saliva has decided to
market the product under the name Impact, company officials announced
this week. LifePoint Inc., which started in Rancho Cucamonga and
recently opened an Ontario plant, says that Impact will enable law
enforcement, emergency rooms and businesses to determine levels of
marijuana, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, alcohol or PCP in the
blood. The disposable device will cost $25 for six tests that give
results in about five minutes, rather than days or weeks it takes for
blood or urine tests . LifePoint plans to start marketing the device
next month.
