UK: Police officers in court over drugs offences

Thursday 13 Sep 2001 Three police officers are appearing in court over the alleged supply and possession of drugs. They are among a total of 11 people who have been charged following a National Crime Squad investigation in the Derbyshire area. All three police officers have been suspended from duty since their arrest on April 28. Two of them were on secondment to the National Crime Squad's Nottingham Branch Office at the time of their arrest and the other one is from Derbyshire Constabulary. During the investigation the National Crime Squad worked with the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire forces. The 11, seven men and four women, have been charged with various offences concerning the alleged supply and possession of Class A and B drugs, including cocaine and cannabis. They are appearing before magistrates in Leicester.
