Papers add to Tory drugs woe

William Hague's attempt to extricate his party from its damaging
dalliance with drugs looks to be in trouble again.

The Times reports that an eighth member of his front bench team has
now confessed to smoking cannabis. Unlike his seven colleagues,
though, the Shadow Agriculture Minister, Tim Yeo, tells the paper he
enjoyed the occasional joint during his youth.

To add to Tory woes, the paper says Mr Hague can expect fresh
embarrassment when his former deputy leader, Peter Lilley, publishes a
pamphlet setting out the case for legalising cannabis. Such a move
contravenes party policy, but Mr Lilley says he believes it is
difficult to justify the law on cannabis as it now stands.

The Daily Telegraph uses its front-page to accuse the government of
wanting to rewrite Britain's history.
