Howard Marks backs UB40 in spliff row

Former hash smuggler Howard Marks has stepped into the dope smoking
row between Ann Widdecombe and UB40.

The band outraged the politician when they used a caricature of her
holding a spliff on the cover of their comeback single Light My Fire.
She said it "wasn't funny" and wanted it withdrawn or she'd take the
matter further.

In an interview for website www.widdycom.com Howard Marks says that
her plans to have on the spot fines for people found carrying cannabis
weren't a "silly thing to suggest as she has no idea what's going on".

Howard also gives his views on the benefits and drawbacks of smoking
cannabis, and talks about governmental hypocrisy.
