Cat forced to inhale cannabis unknown Ananova Tuesday 31 Oct 2000 Five public schoolboys who forced a kitten to inhale cannabis face prosecution for the incident, which left the animal traumatised and violently ill. The incident happened at a party organised by a student from the £10,000-a-year Wells Cathedral School, Somerset, while the owners of the house where he was staying were away. The five allegedly consumed alcohol and smoked cannabis before picking on the terrified cat, luring it into the middle of the sitting room. They are alleged to have blown smoke at the cat and held its mouth open as they repeatedly puffed cannabis fumes into its lungs. The animal then vomited over one of his tormentors. Owner Vicky Franklin only found out why her cat Jack was so disturbed some time after the incident, when a friend overheard one of the students boasting about how they had tormented him. Vicky confronted her lodger, who told her who the other students were. She reported them to the school's head, and they were expelled for smoking cannabis. Mike West, Vicky's boyfriend, was so angry he threw the lodger out of their house and the couple took Jack to a vet and called police, who passed the case on to the RSPCA, reports the Sun. Vicky said: "When I was told Jack was forced to inhale cannabis I hit the roof. I was absolutely disgusted. I still can't believe they did it. It was so cruel." An RSPCA spokesman said: "The physical effects are unlikely to be damaging in the long term. But it's an extremely callous and cruel offence to terrify an animal like that."
