Campaigner hands Queen cannabis bouquet

LONDON (Reuters) - A man campaigning for the legalisation of cannabis
handed a bouquet of the drug to the Queen who unwittingly accepted it
on a walkabout.

"It was a harmless way of trying to bring to the notice of Her Majesty
the ludicrous restrictions on cannabis," said campaigner Colin Davies
who gave the monarch his "pot posy" when she was visiting Salford in
Greater Manchester.

"I was behind a barrier close to the Queen's limo and as she passed I
just shouted 'Your Majesty.' She turned round and came up to me with a
lovely smile," he said.

Police condemned his gesture as a publicity stunt and said they
intended to question Davies.

Davies, the founder of the Medical Marijuana Co-operative, offers the
drug on a non-profit basis to people with multiple sclerosis, cancer
and other serious illnesses.
