Canada: Marijuana health pill on sale in Canada
Ananova
Thursday 06 Dec 2001 A Canadian couple have set up business selling a health pill made from marijuana oil. Their company Medical Marijuana in Nova Scotia is operating under the logo "high on health" to market the treatment. Michael Patriquen and Melanie Stephen say it's not illegal because it's not a classified drug and isn't being sold as a herbal remedy. The company claims the pills will help with cholesterol, arthritis pain, pre-menstrual syndrome and many other problems. But it says the drug isn't a cure for serious medical ailments. The Toronto Sun says the cannabis that is used in Medical Marijuana is cultivated by a federally licensed grower, using federally certified marijuana seed. Since its launch six weeks ago the company has fielded 4,400 phone calls from prospective franchise buyers.
