UK: Police officers in court on drugs charges

Three police officers are due to appear in court charged with possessing and supplying illegal drugs.

Sgt David Redfern, 40, of Derbyshire police, is charged with six counts of possession and supply of cocaine and cannabis and one of perverting the course of justice.

Sgt Mark Jennison, 40, also of Derbyshire Police, is charged with three counts of supplying and possessing cocaine. Pc Heather Bossart, 39, of Nottinghamshire police, is facing two counts of possessing cocaine.

Bossart and Jennison were seconded to the National Crime Squad, who were investigating people suspected of drugs offences, at the time of their arrest last April.

They were among 10 people due to appear at Leicester Crown Court for a plea and directions hearing on charges relating to the supply and possession of Class A and B drugs.

The three officers gave their addresses, at a previous hearing, as care of St Mary's Wharf police station, Derby.

They are currently suspended from duty pending the outcome of any court action.

The others due to appear in court are Nicola Bladen, 34, of Dale End Road, Hilton, Derbyshire, who faces 13 counts of possession and supply of cocaine, cannabis and Ecstasy; Martin Raynor, 45, of Havenbaulk Lane, Littleover, Derby, charged with three counts of possession and supply of
the same; Mark Hancock, 35, of Meynell Street, Derby, facing four charges of possession and supply of the same; Debra Boddey, 32, of Meynell Street, Derby, charged with two counts of possession and supply of cocaine and cannabis; David Jones, 37, charged with two counts of
possession and supply of cocaine; Michael Hackett, 26, of Brookside, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, charged with supplying cannabis.

Alistair Kenworthy was charged with further drugs offences.

Two other defendants, Leslie Roome, 40, of Kedleston Road, Derby, facing two counts of possessing heroin and Ecstasy and Kerry Allsop, 20, of Sycamore Court, Willington, Derby, charged with possession of cocaine, are also due in court.
