UK: Dope hopes

Thursday 17 Jan 2002 GW Pharma, the only group in Britain with a licence to grow cannabis, yesterday saw its shares jump to as high as 117p. The biotech firm aims to test its new cannabis-based drug for pain relief on patients with terminal cancer. It's also launching trials for multiple sclerosis sufferers and spinal cord injury patients. The shares, up from 103p four weeks ago, closed at 114p.
