UK: Column: Little Weed
Jack Malvern The Times
Wednesday 30 Jan 2002 PRINCE HARRY is not the only Windsor to have taken an interest in the dreaded weed. His father, noting the popularity of this carbuncle in the mouth of a friend, has been asking about the availability of cannabis while on a tour of a Welsh hospital. The Prince of Wales was visiting the Usk House Centre in Brecon on Monday when he greeted Jill Ganderton, a multiple sclerosis sufferer, with the usual pleasantries. "Then he asked me if I'd started using cannabis," says Ms Ganderton. "I was quite surprised, but I just said, 'Not yet'. No one was too shocked." Is the Prince hoping to find out a good dealer for his sons, or was he just inquiring for medicinal purposes? "I was there and I didn't hear him say that," says a spokesman at St James's. "But it's a perfectly reasonable question to ask given the debate on the issue." diary@thetimes.co.uk
