Canada: Medical Pot On The Way - Health Canada
Edmonton Sun (CN AB)
Wednesday 30 Jan 2002 Canadians authorized to get medical marijuana from the government can expect to sample federal bud in a few months time, says Health Canada. "We expect it in the upcoming months," said Andrew Swift, spokesman for Health Canada. Swift wouldn't offer a more specific date, saying a distribution system is being set up and the pot is being tested for potency. Health Canada has to ensure a 185-kg batch of pot received from Prairie Plant Systems is safe, said Swift. Every shipment of marijuana grown for the federal government will be tested. Swift said that the variety of pot the company is growing is Cannabis Sativa.
