Politician told police cannabis was for guitar strings

Wednesday 20 Feb 2002 A politician in Ireland has been fined for possessing cannabis he says he used to tune his guitar strings. Patrick Danagher was fined about 90 in a local district court in County Donegal. The Fianna Fail councillor on Ballyshannon Town Council had enough cannabis for 17 rolled cigarettes when he was stopped by police last May. He originally told police it was resin for rubbing his guitar strings. A Fianna Fail spokesman told the Irish Independent that the party had no comment to make on the matter.
