UK: Harry to escape police dope action
Sky News
Thursday 28 Feb 2002 Prince Harry will not face police action over allegations of cannabis smoking and underage drinking, it has been announced. Police said their investigations into events at the Rattlebone Inn in Sherston, Wiltshire, were now finished. A spokesman for the Wiltshire force said: "We now consider the matter closed and there is no further investigation to take place. "None of the inquiries made revealed any involvement whatsoever by Prince Harry or any other members of his family." It was claimed that Harry had drunk with friends in the Rattlebone Inn and also that cannabis was smoked at Highgrove, his father's home in Gloucestershire. The Prince admitted smoking cannabis to his father and was sent to a drug rehabilitation centre. A Wiltshire police spokesman said that the pub's licensee had been "given advice" but there would be no further action against either the licensee or the brewery.
