UK: Harry pub cannabis man fined
Simon de Bruxelles The Times
Wednesday 27 Feb 2002 A MAN who sold cannabis to an undercover reporter from the News of the World at a pub visited by Prince Harry was fined 900. John Holland, 29, sold 20 worth of cannabis in the toilets of the Rattlebone Inn in Sherston, Wiltshire, where the Prince is alleged to have been drinking under age. Holland admitted one charge of offering to supply cannabis on December 22, and another of supplying 2.67 grams of cannabis on January 4. He was also ordered to pay 118 in costs. Fred Tucker, for the defence, said that his client supplied the drug only because he was pressured by the reporter. The sale was an isolated one. Chippenham Magistrates' Court was told that the reporter, Conrad Brown, told Holland that his name was Chris and he was working in the area. Hidden video cameras filmed Holland agreeing to supply cannabis in the pub's toilets. After two weeks of constant phone calls by Mr Brown, Holland sold him the cannabis. Ten days later the paper published its story on Prince Harry, with pictures of Holland.
