UK: Trader plans UK's third cannabis cafe in Hull

---
A market trader is planning to open a cannabis cafe in Hull next year.

It will be the third cafe of its kind in the UK if the plans go ahead.
Similar enterprises have previously opened in Bournemouth and Stockport.

Carl Wagner already runs the Divine Herb stall in the city's indoor market.

He says he intends to open the cafe for people who want to buy cannabis but
don't want to go to a dealer.

Mr Wagner says he already has a number of investors willing to back the
project and has a shop in the city centre earmarked for opening next
February. The outlet would also sell food and coffee.

He is calling for a meeting with the local council and Humberside Police to
reach a "sensible agreement" over the proposal.

The police say the cafe will be policed in line with current drug laws
banning cannabis.

Mr Wagner said: "The idea is to open a cafe where registered medical
patients can come and take cannabis in a comfortable environment. The focus
will be on medical use.

"I am inundated with inquiries from people with multiple sclerosis and
arthritis who want to know where they can get cannabis without having to go
to street dealers."

He told the Hull Daily Mail: "We need to take this out of the hands of
criminals so people are guaranteed a good quality product."
