UK: Students get cannabis-growing equipment seized by police

Police have given cannabis-growing equipment to university students who
will grow the drug legally.

Science students at Nottingham Trent University plan to see how cannabis
plants grow in artificial conditions.

Local police seized the lights and materials in raids on drug dealers who'd
been growing the cannabis.

Police say they wanted the equipment to go to good use rather than
destroying it.

The university is warning students to use the equipment solely for their
studies.

The Daily Mirror quotes the university's Dr Robin Meeks as saying: "Any
students who assume it can be used for the original purpose will be quickly
put right."
