Uganda: Kamugisha Warns On Marijuana
Darious Magara New Vision (Uganda)
Thursday 18 Jul 2002 Dr. Alex Kamugisha, the state minister for youth and children, has advised Kabale local leaders who allegedly deal in marijuana to resign. Kamugisha said he was shocked that local leaders promoted marijuana. "Those leaders who grow and sell marijuana should be advised to resign their posts," Kamugisha said during a meeting with the Kabale Municipality Mayor, Dr. Pius Ruhemurana at his office on Tuesday. Marijuana is reportedly widely grown in Rubanda county. Kamugisha urged leaders to be exemplary and fight drug abuse, warning that if it was not stopped or reduced, Kabale was heading for trouble. "We want to use intelligence systems to track down drug traffickers soon," he said. Kamugisha advised parents to fight drug abuse before the young generation was affected.
