UK: Richard speaks out on cannabis debate
Market Rasen Mail
Wednesday 17 Jul 2002 A MARKET Rasen man has set up a website on the internet to warn people about the dangers of cannabis. Richard Adamskl is appalled the government has downgraded cannabis so if people are caught with the drug they are cautioned rather than prosecuted. "My view is the law shouldn't be touched," said Richard who has sent details of his CanAbyss website to Home Secretary David Blunkett. He says he set up the website after a 16-year-old girl called at his home and told him: "I'm addicted to heroin Adamski, and I don't know what to do." He says young people become addicted to the 'buzz' of taking cannabis and can be easily led into harder drugs. On the website Richard describes watching his young friends take cannabis and the awful effect it has on them. He says: "A young lady named Louise, aged 21, is very attractive, very smart and clean. "On several occasions I witnessed Louise having a jet to get stoned. Immediately the neck of the bottle touched her lips, the change began and when she had sucked in the cannabis smoke her facial-prettiness lost all its appeal. "Her finely formed features became rough-edged and what looks remained were solely dependant upon her reaction to being instantly stoned. "I have noticed this in all the young ladies who take cannabis." He warns: "Drugs are against the law so when you start taking cannabis you enter the unlawful drugs environment. "If you smoke cannabis you are encouraging a dealer to sell more cannabis, including other drugs. It could possibly be the person you get your cannabis from is the same dealer who encourages other people to take harder drugs. "Possibly the same drugs dealer who supplied the drugs to a young person who died because of taking a drug."
