UK: Shock drug link to road deaths

Friday 02 Aug 2002 MORE than half the drivers killed in road accidents in one police force area so far this year had illegal drugs in their system, the RAC Foundation disclosed today. The statistics, from Durham Police, suggest " drug driving could have become more prevalent than drink driving", said the foundation. The RAC Foundation said it was particularly concerned at the findings because of Government proposals to reclassify cannabis from a class B to a class C drug.
