UK: Cannabis trials boost

Cannabis-based drugs on the NHS came a major step closer today with
publication of successful trial results from a British company.

GW Pharmaceuticals said it had made a "highly significant" breakthrough
in cannabis medication trials with 34 patients with severe pain, mainly
multiple sclerosis and spinal injury victims.

The drug, in a spray form, could be available in 2004.
