UK: Illegal plants grown in shed
Express & Star, Walsall
Wednesday 07 May 2003 A 23-year-old man who grew five cannabis plants in his garden shed was fined £100 by Aldridge magistrates. Luke Kevin Bradley, of Warren Place, Brownhills, pleaded guilty to producing a controlled drug when he appeared in court, yesterday. Magistrates also ordered that Bradley must forfeit all the equipment used to cultivate the plants and pay costs of £55. Mr John Harmshaw, prosecuting, said police carried out a drug search at Bradley's home in the early hours of May 1. They found five mature cannabis plants growing in the garden shed. The shed was lined with foil, light and heating was provided on timer controls and water was pumped to the plants, said Mr Harmshaw. Mr David McQueen, defending, said Bradley, who lived with his partner and their two-year-old child, had made a full and frank confessions to police. Bradley had grown the plants from seeds after responding to an advertisement on the internet, he said. Mr McQueen said Bradley had developed a fascination for growing cannabis, which would have been for his own use.
