UK: Marchers Roll UP For Protest
Hull Daily Mail
Friday 13 Jun 2003 Hull: Campaigners lobbying for the legalisation of cannabis are holding their third annual march in the city tomorrow. Marchers will leave Queen's Gardens, city centre, at 1pm. They will walk along Spring Bank and Princes Avenue to join a "smokey bears" picnic in Pearson Park. DJs and live bands have been booked to appear. Hull's self-styled marijuana missionary Carl Wagner has helped organise the event. He said: "This looks like it could be our biggest march yet. There are people coming from all over the country. Everyone is invited to come along." He added: "After last year's march, it was said that I was not calling for the wholesale legalisation of cannabis. But that's wrong, because I am. "Some of the campaigners use cannabis for medical reasons, such as people with arthritis and other illnesses. They shouldn't have to break the law to get that relief." Mr Wagner, who runs the Divine Herb stall in Hull's indoor market, plans to open the city's first cannabis cafe, but has yet to reveal the location.
