UK: Sufferer is fined £50 over drug

A SPINA BIFIDA sufferer who uses cannabis to alienate pain was fined £50
for possessing the drug.

Weymouth magistrates heard Jason Daniel Philip Cuddy, 22, of Beverly Road,
Weymouth, plead guilty to possessing 0.829 grams of cannabis resin on March 12.

Conrad Lakeman, prosecuting, said police entered Cuddy's home at 8.45 am
and found the drug on a coffee table.

In mitigation, Simon Lacey said: "It is a very small amount, valued at 50 p
of a £1. He suffers from spina bifida and is allergic to most painkillers.
He uses it from time to time to alleviate pain.

"The is something that might become available in the near future on
prescription."

A destruction order was made for the drugs.
