UK: GW readies wonder weed drug
The Telegraph
Friday 20 Jun 2003 GW Pharmaceuticals, which is developing cannabis-based medicines, yesterday said that its first product, Sativex, should be available for prescription in the UK by the end of 2003. Geoffrey Guy, the executive chairman, said that the company would not be concerned if regulatory approval slips into the first quarter of 2004. The company yesterday announced six-month results in line with expectations, with its pre-tax loss widening to UKP7.3m from UKP5.7m last year. GW shares fell 7 to 230.5p yesterday. GW will book a UKP5m fee from Bayer, its marketing partner for Sativex.
