SINGER HOUSTON FACES POT CHARGE

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) -- Pop singer Whitney Houston could face 30 days
in a Hawaiian jail and a $1,000 fine for allegedly possessing half an ounce
of marijuana, discovered by security staff at the Keahole-Kona
International Airport, police said.

The drug was found Jan. 11 in Houston's bag during a routine search as the
recording star prepared to board a plane for San Francisco, First Deputy
Prosecutor Charlene Iboshi said. The petty misdemeanor charge was filed
Tuesday.

Staff kept the bag, but Houston departed before officers had arrived,
police said.
