I PUFFED POT SAYS NICKLAUS

Clean-cut golfer Jack Nicklaus shocked fans yesterday by admitting he
had smoked cannabis and "drank enough beer to sink 10
battleships".

Golden Bear Nicklaus, 60 - who has 20 Majors and 100 Tour wins to his
name - opened his heart on the eve of the 100th US Open.

He said: "A long time ago, a college friend came to a tournament and
we went to dinner.

"He asked me if it was okay to smoke. I said 'Of course'. He said 'No,
Jack, I mean smoke what I always smoke. I mean marijuana'. So he did,
and I asked him for a puff to see what it tasted like."

He added: "By eight o'clock that night, I was done. I was ready for
bed. I never tried marijuana again."

Nicklaus also revealed he has a sweet tooth - but that is his only
addiction now.

He said: "I rarely drink alcohol. In college I drank enough beer to
sink 10 battleships, but no more."
