Philippines: A Whiff Of Marijuana For Unsuspecting Public
ccguide Thursday 01 Aug 2002 Pubdate: Thu, 01 Aug 2002 Source: Manila Times (Philippines) Copyright: 2002, The Manila Times Contact: Website: http://www.manilatimes.net/ Details: http://www.mapinc.org/media/921 Author: Steve Shamblen A WHIFF OF MARIJUANA FOR UNSUSPECTING PUBLIC The government tells us the simple marijuana plant is so dangerous that it requires the death penalty for its possession. Why are these people, who stand so firm on this issue, putting an unaware public in immediate danger then? By burning a very large amount of marijuana in the presence of a President, no less, with a large crowd of public officials and police officers, as well as reporters, photographers and innocent on lookers near by, how do you explain that no danger will come to them? What about the public population that is living downwind and near the airport where the marijuana was burned? Do they not have the right to have their immediate atmosphere not polluted with a large quantity of secondhand marijuana smoke? Do the public officials need to promote their wrongful and deadly message of marijuana to the point where they can not dispose of properly of what they refer to as: a hazard and dangerous plant that is worthy of the death penalty? Does not the public deserve the appropriate manner of destruction of police evidence so that they are free from the state-pronounced effects of the evil of the weed? Just what do you think they are trying to say? The message of a public marijuana burn is not worth it and it's wrong. - --- MAP posted-by: Derek
