UK: Tories vow to reverse drug law

The Government's decision to downgrade the classification of cannabis would
be reversed by the Conservatives as part of their strategy to tackle gun crime.

A softer approach to cannabis means that more youngsters experiment with
harder drugs, David Davis, the Shadow Home Secretary, said yesterday. David
Blunkett, the Home Secretary, downgraded cannabis from a Class B to Class C
drug two years ago.

'Half of new crime is drug-related,' Mr Davis told The Mail on Sunday.
'Speaking as a parent, I find the Government's mixed messages on drugs
