UK: Irvine son drug fine
Daily Record, Glasgow Friday 16 Jan 2004 THE son of Castaway author Lucy Irvine had the money he made selling his story confiscated yesterday. David Robert Laurence Irvine, 18, who is known as Magnus or Laurie, was fined a total of £1750 at Elgin Sheriff Court, Moray, after he admitted buying cannabis over the internet and having it delivered to Gordonstoun school. He was expelled from the school. He admitted he had made £1350 from articles in two London-based newspapers before his arrest on drugs supply charges last May. Sheriff Ian Cameron said: 'You are not allowed to profit from crime, so that will have be added to the fine.' Irvine, who nowworks as a £140a-week night porter at a youth hostel in Edinburgh, was fined £400
