Israel: Police 'high' from waft of confiscated cannabis
Ananova
Friday 23 Jan 2004 An Israeli police station has had to shut down an entire floor because they say the aroma of confiscated cannabis is making the officers high. Marijuana smuggled from Egypt is being kept in a storeroom at the station in the southern town of Dimona. But officers confiscated so much of the drug, the room filled up again as soon as the contents were sent to be destroyed. Sky News Online, quoting the Maariv newspaper, said a police doctor ordered personnel to move to another floor until the drugs could be shipped out. One officer told the newspaper: "Every time I came to work I felt like I was high. The smell of marijuana was killing us - it was impossible to work." Story filed: 12:07 Friday 23rd January 2004
