Switzerland: Cannabis vote
Swissinfo.org
Tuesday 02 Mar 2004 The Senate has once again come out in support of decriminalising cannabis. It voted by 28 votes to 12 in favour of proposals that would allow the possession and production of cannabis for personal use and a limited trade in the drug. The Senate passed similar proposals two years ago, but these were defeated in the House of Representatives last September, just ahead of Switzerland's parliamentary elections. Wednesday's decision means the bill will once again be put before the House of Representatives; if rejected a second time, it stands no chance of becoming law. swissinfo
