UK: Cultivated cannabis
Scunthorpe Telegraph
Saturday 03 Apr 2004 A Cannabis grower, who cultivated the plant in the garage at his Scunthorpe home, was fined UKP100 by North Lincolnshire magistrates. The illegal plants were found when officers visited Neil Crawshaw's home in Meadow Road at about 8.30am on March 28, following a report of 'a domestic incident'. "While there, they became aware the defendant was growing cannabis plants in his detached garage," prosecutor Dennis Aisthorpe said. Four plants were found being grown, using a hydroponics system. And, he said, cannabis leaves were found inside his home. "He said he had bought the seeds from a shop in the town," said Mr Aisthorpe. Mike Whiting, for Crawshaw, told the bench: "The plants were for his own use - it was a very small-scale cultivation." He said his client decided to grow plants as he had suffered an industrial injury to his back, and used the drug for pain relief. Crawshaw (26) admitted a charge of cannabis cultivation and, as well as the fine, was told to pay UKP43 costs. Magistrates ordered the confiscation of the growing system and light.
