Tuesday 15 Jun 2004 A PUBLICAN who endured nine months of "mental anguish" being dragged through the courts for unwitttingly growing two cannabis plants has been cleared after a judge branded his prosecution "a complete and utter waste of time." Thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money was squandered on the crown court prosecution of Chris Dyson, landlord of Ye Olde Burtle Inn, after he was charged with cultivating the drug. Chris had innocently planted two seeds given to him by a pub-goer in his private vegetable patch next to his tomatoes and runner beans, and when they germinated he had no idea what they were.
