UK: Pupil suspended for cannabis cookery

North Tonight Online

Wednesday 27 Oct 2004

---

Police are investigating claims that a pupil baked cannabis-laced muffins
during a home economics class in Aberdeenshire.

The youngster has been suspended from Westhill Academy following the
incident yesterday afternoon.

It was during a home economics class at Westhill Academy near Aberdeen,
that a second year pupil was alleged to have added his own special
ingredient while baking during a home economics class yesterday afternoon.

Fellow classmates spotted the individual sprinkling what's thought to have
been cannabis on the muffins. They then reported it to staff and the police
were immediately contacted.

Education bosses want to make it clear drugs misuse in schools will not be
tolerated.

The local residents' association were surprised to hear of the incident,
especially because the boy involved is so young.

The second year pupil has now been suspended. Grampian Police say
investigations are continuing.
