UK: Gran to Attend Cannabis Meeting
Evening News, Norwich
Friday 18 Feb 2005 Grandma Pat, the outspoken pensioner who openly bakes cannabis, will attend a pro-cannabis political party's annual conference in Norwich this weekend. Patricia Tabram, of Humshaugh in Northumbserland, will speak at the gathering. The 65-year-old widow is famed for being the first British pensioner to admit possessing the drug and distributing it among her 16-strong pensioners' group. She claimed it relieved her pain from arthritis and even set up a cannabis cookery club. National co-ordinator Alun Buffry said he was delighted she was attending. Anyone interested in the cannabis debate is being urged to attend the annual Legalise Cannabis Alliance conference on Saturday in the lecture theatre in the Elizabeth Fry Buildings at the University of East Anglia at noon. Don Barnard, spokesman for the organisation, which has its headquarters in Norwich, said: "We would like to see lots of students there. It will be a day of confirming candidates across the country and we will discuss our election strategy. There will also be a chance to ask candidates questions."
