A GRANDMOTHER who advocates cooking with
cannabis has denied growing the drug in her home.
Patricia Tabram, 66, pleaded not guilty yesterday when she appeared at Tynedale
Magistrates Court in Hexham charged with the cultivation of cannabis following
a raid at her home on September 16.
Magistrates heard Northumbria Police raided her home and recovered seven
cannabis plants, which were growing in her bedroom wardrobe, alongside
cultivation equipment.
Officers also seized 17 grams of the drug from a plastic container her kitchen,
the court heard.
The pensioner, of East Lea, Humshaugh, elected to be tried before a jury at
Newcastle Crown Court.
JPs remanded her on unconditional bail to reappear for a committal hearing on
January 17.
